Liquid lipsticks have been a major beauty trend during the last few years and pretty much all makeup brands have come out with their own collection. Even though lip glosses are making a comeback, matte lips are still well loved and today I’m going to be reviewing one of the most affordable brands take on this fad, the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers.
Get the ultimate velvet-matte pout with this richly pigmented, silky smooth lip lacquer. The quick-dry formula glides on effortlessly to leave a gorgeous matte finish, that is smudge proof & long-lasting. Dark or pale?
The Makeup Academy Lip Lacquers retail at £3 and you get 6 ml of product. They come in a chic looking frosted glass and gold packaging. There are 26 different shades available on the site including some exciting bold colours and I’ve got four shades to share with you guys; Tranquility, Unity, Kooky and Reckless.
The first thing I noticed is the smell; they have a sickly sweet and fruity smell (if that makes sense… describing smells isn’t really my forte) that kinda put me off at first but after it dried down on the lips didn’t really bother me anymore. They aren’t the most comfortable liquid lipsticks and feel quite dry on the lips. Also make sure to properly scrub and moisturize your lips before using these especially if you’ve got chapped lips. Other than that you can’t really beat them at that price. The shades are opaque and the lipsticks dry fairly quickly to a complete matte finish and don’t smudge, although after a couple of hours it might start to come off a little around the centre of the lips (which is quite common with liquid lipsticks).
All in all I would recommend them considering how affordable they are and the wide range of colours. They are also perfect if you would like to try a bold shade that you’re not sure about (like I did with Unity and Kooky).
