T-shirt dresses are one of my favourite things to wear, whether they are actual dresses or over sized t-shirts (one of the perks of being short). Extra points if it’s a man’s shirt; they’re way more comfortable. That’s just a fact. Anyway, they make some of the most comfortable and effortless looks, while still looking stylish. And you don’t have to worry if you’ve eaten a little more than you should have for lunch… or for the last few months. They are also very practical in hot and humid weather like one can find in Malta. So really it’s a no brainer they are such a go-to for me.
If you’re not into the super baggy, boxy look and would like to add some structure to your t-shirt dress, I would recommend wearing a belt or tying a shirt around the waist. The fanny pack/bum bag is currently trending, providing another way to give some structure to an otherwise formless dress. These are all great ways to accessorize a simple outfit and make it look more put together. They also help if the dress is a little too long, making you feel a little lost in the material. Being ridiculously short doesn’t help either. Something else that might help when there is too much material and the dress starts looking a little flat, is tying up the end of the dress. Invisible ties can be used to make it easier to tie it.
I mostly like to pair t-shirt dresses with trainers, my personal favourite being low top white Converse. But then again, I tend to pair everything with trainers (I’m all about the chill and comfortable look). They will also look super cool with ankle boots for a more edgy look. A great way to dress them up a little would be to pair the dress with knee high boots or sock boots.
